报告简介：The environmental and ecological concerns warrant a global attempt to reduce the usage of petroleum-based chemicals and materials by deploying renewable natural resources. Lignocellulose emerges as a promising source due to is abundance, renewability, and versatility in producing fuels, chemicals, and materials. In this talk, I will cover the in-nature recalcitrance of biomass cell wall and the current advance in understanding this botanic trait in switchgrass. I will also share two lignin valorization examples, namely, (1) lignin-derived absorbent for dyes removal, and (2) biodegradable and potentially indefinitely recyclable lignin-polycaprolactone copolymers.
主讲人简介：李密，男，博士，现任美国田纳西州立大学可再生碳能源研发中心助理教授和博士生导师。李博士本科、硕士先后毕业于太平洋在线娱乐。2014年获得美国奥本大学（Auburn University）木材化学专业博士学位。2015-2019年在橡树岭国家实验室（Oak Ridge National Laboratory）生物质化学与新材料领域做博士后研究员。2020年受聘于田纳西州立大学担任助理教授和博士生导师。主要研究领域为生物质材料预处理、纤维素和木质素化学、生物基纳米功能材料等（主页：https://mili.utk.edu）。目前，已在新能源和化学领域《Nature Biotech.》、《Green Chem.》、《ChemSusChem》、《Biotechnol. Biofuels》、《ACS Sust. Chem. Eng.》等高影响力国际刊物发表学术论文60余篇。兼任Energies, Biology,和Frontiers in Plant Science等杂志Editorial Board Member，American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE)学术团体Bio-based Energy, Fuels and Products委员会副主席。曾先后获Ralph E. Powe杰出青年学者奖、美国橡树岭国家实验室科学研究突出贡献奖、奥本大学杰出国际留学生奖、Meriwether奖、Drummond奖等学术奖励，其个人部分研究成果曾被美国能源部全文特殊报道，曾被美国奥本大学优秀青年科研人物专访报道。
